LEARNERS RECEIVE AWARDS DURING SCIENCE FAIR

MASERU __ Learners from different schools in the country received awards during the National Science Fair 2025 competition held in Maseru on Friday.

 

A number of learners who scored higher positions from different schools that include Sefate Sa Bophelo, St. Stephens, Mapoteng, Leqele and others received certificates with trophies going to be allocated in the upcoming activities to be held in the districts.

 

Meanwhile, one Katleho Khalala of NULIS whose science project became the best project in science has been commended for always winning in this fair including having participated in ESKOM Expo.

 

Handing over awards and congratulating winners on behalf of the Minister of Information, Communications, Science Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Science Director, Mrs. 'Mats'epo Mosoka congratulated winners expressing gratitude that most of the projects portrayed are in line with getting solutions to energy challenges.

 

She explained that learners' concepts are promising, indicating the need for more collaborations so as to tackle even waste management challenges amongst others. “Engage more in science research, so that we can find more and more solutions to problems facing the country.”

 

On behalf of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Jone Marole said today honours top performing learners, as well as encouraging more those who managed to come here beyond class room level and explore big ideas here.

 

He said the STEAM subjects are the print of tomorrow's solutions, adding this fosters research and Innovation in the 21st century.

 

The Lesotho Science and Mathematics Teachers Association (LSMTA) President, Mr. Keketso Leteba said he has observed commitment from science and maths learners, indicating they have a likelihood of becoming best engineers, scientists and mathematicians.

 

"This is not about winning, it is about platform creation to come together, share resources and skills in the interest of our growth". He stressed.

 

On behalf of Vodacom Lesotho, sponsors of the event, Mr. Katleho Pefole said they are committed to powering innovation initiatives so as to achieve NSDP II hence their support.

 

One of the participants, Khafu Matiane of Villa Maria Primary in Quthing expressed gratitude that he was given a chance to participate in this exercise.
