RAMASHAMOLE EXPRESSES GRATITUDE OVER ITU VISIT

MASERU - The Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Mr. Kanono Ramashamole expressed gratitude for the visit of the Information Telecommunication Union (ITU) Area Representative visit in Lesotho.He said this when officially closing this week's stakeholders engagement with ITU Area Representative Southern Africa, Ms. Halima Letamo in Maseru on Thursday.

According to the PS, Lesotho through the Ministry is a member to ITU, indicating visits such as these ones contribute to realisation of digitisation in its entirety.He noted that as the Ministry, they are looking into digital skills as part of the 2026 plan so that as technology moves faster, the locals are able to adhere to its use.

Meanwhile, Ms. Letamo indicated that the fact that Lesotho through the Ministry of Information has invited ITU is a signal that the government is committed towards connectivity, adding a lot of work has been done already.She stated that during her visit, she also talked to the United Nations (UN) on how best to help Lesotho deliver effectively on its comprehensive digital strategy.In another story, he related to the Ministry of Agriculture chat board that would enable farmers to ask questions and share challenges facing the industry amongst others in a bid to seek lasting solutions.

During her visit since the start of the week, the Agency has established that ITU representatives held talks with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security as well as MICSTI, Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA) and United Nations to mention but a few.
