Three women aged between 40 and sixty have been reported to have died at the scene when a taxi overturned during a road accident that occurred at Maqokho road in Mount Moorosi Constituency on Tuesday late in the afternoon.

In an interview with the Agency the Quthing District Deputy Police Commander Senior Inspector Moeketsi said eight passengers that include a driver, men, women and a child aged under five sustained serious injuries and they were taken to Quthing distrct government hospital.

He stated that the taxi involved in the accident was from Mount Moorosi to Maqokho and the source of the accident was overload as it failed to climb behind a steep place on the road, reversed and overturned.

He said the taxi is alleged to have taken more than 16 passengers and their variety of goods which is illegal

He appealed to drives to avoid overloading of passengers and ensure their taxies are road worthy to avoid accidents, adding that passengers should as well avoid to force to get in full public transport since it is their responsibility as well to avoid acts that lead to road accidents.

This is the first accident of this kind to be reported in the district this year.
