Maseru __ In efforts to curb the ongoing vehicle theft that the country is faced with, White Stone Trading, a vehicle tracking device company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) in Maseru on Thursday.

In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of White Stone Trading, Mr. Khotso Molapo, said that this collaboration will strengthen protection measures once stolen cars have been located and need to be recovered.

He indicated that with the integration of White Stone’s tracking systems and LMPS operations, it will be easier to trace stolen vehicles in real time, thereby reducing cross-border smuggling of cars and curbing criminal networks behind theft syndicates.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police Paseka Mokete welcomed the partnership, highlighting that vehicle theft is one of the major crimes affecting Lesotho and that the MoU provides a practical tool in addressing the challenge. He stressed that this joint effort will not only enhance law enforcement operations but also restore public confidence, as many Basotho have lost vehicles without recovery due to limited tracking mechanisms.

The agreement marks the beginning of a public-private partnership aimed at strengthening security measures and ensuring that law-abiding citizens are protected from criminal activity.

Whitestone Trading was incorporated in 2022 as a company that has a diverse portfolio but one of its main focus is vehicle tracking and fleet management.

Its objective is to significantly reduce the rate of car theft in Lesotho by providing comprehensive security solutions tailored to each client’s needs.
