Ministry of Social Development is worried about families which continue to neglect their responsibility, of taking care of their children.

The officer in the Ministry of Social Development in Mafeteng district Mrs ‘Matebello Mariti, says families are continuing to leave their children unattended, with the intention of killing them especially the new born babies.

Mrs Mariti said recently they found a new born baby wrapped in clothes and dumped by his parents, and he was taken to one of the children’s home in Maseru, where he is being given a proper care.

She said this year the Ministry of Social Development received five reports, of children who were dumped by their parents.

She also said her ministry is concerned with the increasing number of people, who are in need of social grants.
