Members of the security sector being the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF), Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS), Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) and the Crime Investigation Department (CID), together with the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Lesotho and the Department of Customs, have started a one week workshop on the administration of media, under the media administration program of the British Army.

Major Matela Matobakele of LDF officially launched the workshop in Maseru yesterday, saying he hopes that the official opening of that workshop is not just the end in itself, but it is the beginning of good working relations between the security sector and media for the benefit of the people.

He pointed out that the workshop comes at the right time when Lesotho is preparing for the national constitutional reforms, other than in the past years when the security sector believed that media was their enemy.

Major Matobekele encouraged security sectors, to consider media as their counter parts in service delivery.

At the same event, the deputy adviser of LDF Wing Commander Kevin Reiner, said media is the eyes and mouth of the nation, and it gives the nation news in a transparent manner.
