The Ministry of Education and Training through the Department of National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC), will implement the new curriculum in secondary schools in Lesotho this year.

Speaking in Maseru yesterday, the manager in the NCDC department Mr Teboho Tsilane, said the new curriculum was tested in 2017 in ninety-six schools and they are satisfied that it works.

Mr Tsilane indicated that teachers are being held a two days workshop, where they are taught about how the new curriculum was build and how it will be implemented in schools.

In his statement Mr Tsilane said if they had enough money, they would like to be given more days for the workshop.

He said when they realized that their finances allowed them to settle for only a two days workshop, they strategically planned how they are going to hold the workshop in order to train all the teachers during these days.

He further stated that in their plans they had decided that people who will train teachers, should be those who built this new curriculum.

Teachers who attended this training are expected to share their knowledge with those who did not attend, even though they indicated the main challenge is that learning materials relating to this new curriculum are not yet available in schools.
