The Lesotho Millennium Development Agency (LMDA) held a one day workshop for different contractors in Maseru yesterday, to address them on issues relating to corruption, creating awareness and equipping them with anti-corruption measures and advantages.

During the workshop the LMDA Head of Human Resources Mr Napo Motsomi said the purpose of LMDA Fraud and Corruption Policy is to provide guidance on how to prevent, detect and remediate fraud and corruption.

He also said it sets boundaries and identify practices that are considered to be corrupt in the implementation of projects under LMDA.

Mr Motsomi said LMDA Board of Directors and LMDA itself are in charge of enforcing the LMDA policy, and in doing so bidders, suppliers and sub-contractors can be blacklisted.

He further said they can even blacklist consultants who the contractors consulted before submitting their proposals to LMDA, if they are found engaged in collusive practices with those particular consultants.

He warned contractors that they can be sanctioned either indefinitely or for a specified period of time, if they are engaged in collusive, cohesive, corrupt and fraudulent prohibited practices.
