A twenty-six years old man Libete Molehe of Qoqolosi in Mohale’s Hoek, appeared before the Mohale’s Hoek Magistrate Court on the 10th July 2019, accused of killing his one year and three months old son.

He is awaiting trial in custody and he will re-appear in court on the 24th July 2019.

The Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) Spokesperson Superintend Mpiti Mopeli said the man assaulted his son and broke his arm on the 12th May 2019.

He further said on the 30th May this year, the man hit his son with fists and bit him with a whip, when his wife had visited her home and his mother was working in the construction of local tanks in the village.

Superintendent Mopeli indicated that the person who saw the attack, reported to the grandmother of the child who rushed to attend him, and he was taken to the nearby clinic in Taung, where he was transferred to Nt’sekhe Hospital and died the following day.

He said the man did this to disappoint his wife, whom he heard she was looking for a job.
