The minister of Defence and National Security Honourable Tefo Mapesela officially opened a five days security sector symposium in Maseru on Monday the 2nd Septembers 2019.

The Governments of the United States of America and United Kingdom have collaborated to start this symposium and therefore the security officials of both countries are part of the symposium

In his Remarks Mapesela indicated that the symposium comes at the right time when the Kingdom of Lesotho is in the process of national reforms.

He said it is his belief that the security sectors shall benefit and put into practice what they will learn in the symposium for the betterment and for security of Lesotho and Basotho at Large.

On that occasion, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Lesotho Her Excellency Rebecca E.Gonzales, said she was proud to see many leaders from across security sector gathered together, which in and of itself is a testament to their desire to work together to advance rule of law and stability in Lesotho.

She also indicated that in her three decades of diplomatic service to her country, she has worked closely with members of America’s armed forces and many law enforcement agencies.

She however conveyed her hearty gratitude to her colleagues who travelled from afar to present this training symposium here in Lesotho which is only possible due to the hard work on both sides to re-establish military relations between America and Lesotho.
