As part of efforts to improve its services, Revenue
Services Lesotho (RSL) has on Monday launched e-payment and e-
taxation services in Maseru.

The newly launched services will be paid through the VCL Financial Services called Mpesa. It is now  piloted with 30 clients and by Monday next week, it will extend to all taxpayers. Speaking at the event, Minister of Finance and Development Planning Dr. Rets'elisitsoe Matlanyane said the economy is faced with macro-economic challenges as it is moving globally and domestically into recession. She said this is the  difficult time for policy makers to resuscitate the economy.

She said for a long time, Lesotho has been dependent on Southern African Commission Union (SACU) revenue which she said has become volatile hence  they have to depend on their own revenue. She noted that SACU has been declining and that means less
resources in financing Lesotho's budget.
