The district residents, friends and family early evening yesterday

warmly welcomed St. Joseph primary students with melodious songs, ululation and emotional hugs with a convoy of cars for their outstanding performance at a national science fair which was held at the Lesotho College of Education (LCE) from July 19 to 21, 2023.

According to the school;s principal, Mrs. Mapontso Qhobosheane, pupils participated in a range of categories including problem solving, oral quiz, projects and science Olympiad. She said they entered with five projects; got 1st prizes in three projects, three trophies, gold medals and certificates. In two projects, they got 2nd prizes, two silver medals and certificates. They also got position one and two respectively in science Olympiad, one silver and bronze medals plus two certificates. They got a trophy for best maths project plus gold medal and silver medal for 2nd best maths project.

The District Education Manager Mr. Lebenya Mothibeli revealed that four schools - two high schools (Patlong and Makhaola) and two primary schools (St. Joseph and Waterfall) had raced in that competetition. He said Melele are proud even for those schools that did not succeed because they gained knowledge for their betterment.The District Administrator (DA) Mr. Mantsi Ts;eane said recently the district has been on the map with excellency.
