Prime Minister officiates justice forum

The Prime Minister (PM) Mr. Samuel Matekane officiated a one-day justice sector coordination forum held in Maseru on Thursday.

The forum was Organised by the Ministry of Justice, Law and Parliamentary Affairs and its purpose was to restore public sector trust in the justice system as well as to consolidate inputs from stakeholders on annual review among others.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister said a forum of this nature is important, adding that more stakeholders deliberate on issues of transparency and fair issuance of justice to pave a way towards yielding positive results in the future.

Furthermore, Matekane indicated that he is confident that all stakeholders present today are committed towards re- inventing the wheel of the rule of law without one’s economic or political status. He added by saying Unless justice is transparent, Lesotho cannot grow economically and otherwise.

On the other hand, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Honourable Nthomeng Majara stated that when crime is reduced, peace and stability will prevail in Lesotho, hence even investors will find the need to invest in this country for economic growth purposes.

This forum was attended by lawyers, armed forces members including Principal Chiefs and civil society organizations.
