Maseru_Basotho are optimistic about entering a new era as the nation embarks on a journey of revival to celebrate its 200 years of existence.

The commencement of the revival journey was marked in Botha Bothe, kicking off commemorations for the 200th anniversary of the Basotho nation, established by King Moshoeshoe I.

Mrs. Malieketseng Malataliana, a street vendor, expressed hope during an interview, stating that the revival torch and journey signifies a promising future for the country. She noted the sight of 200 years' flags in Maseru's main circle, suggesting a potential upturn in economic activities.

Echoing similar sentiments, Mr. Lira Nkokoto, a commercial farmer, emphasized the significance of agriculture and urged the government to prioritize it, discouraging the conversion of plough field into residential areas.

Mr. Nkokoto underscored the importance of government investment in agriculture amidst challenging weather conditions due to climate change.

An anonymous sex worker, reflecting on the high unemployment rate, highlighted the necessity of her profession for survival, despite its stigma.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ernest Motaung, a taxi driver and owner, acknowledged the decline in public transport's profitability in the face of increasing car ownership, expressing concerns about alternative livelihoods.

In a collective plea to the government and its partners, these individuals emphasized the need for initiatives to engage youth in projects for national development.

The National Revival Torch tour aims to spread His Majesty's message across Basotho districts, fostering reflection, unity, patriotism, and national image enhancement, culminating in the celebration of 200 years as the Basotho Nation.

King Letsie III's call for a new chapter signifies a transformative phase for Lesotho, urging unity and collective action towards a renewed national identity.
