The Minister of Labour and Employment Hon Tseliso Mokhosi has tabled subordinate laws before the House of the Senate on Wednesday seeking the house to further their discussions. The tabled are Workmen’s Compensation Regulations 2024, Communications (Subscriber Identity Module Registration) Amendment) Regulations, 20224, and Road Traffic (Amendment of Schedule) Regulations, 2023.In his tabling, the Minister read the Legal Notice No. 6, volume 69, being Communication (Subscriber Identity Module Registration) (Amendment) Regulations, 2024 which talks about the procedure for registration of SIMs indicating that the asylum seeker shall present the

asylum seeker certificate issued by the commissioner for Refugees, a license that shall keep details of the asylum seeker as verified by the Commissioner of Refugees. It further indicates that the registered SIM shall correspond with the name of the asylum seeker adding that after obtaining confirmation of the Refugee status, the asylum seeker shall re-register his SIM.

On the other hand, the Legal Notice No. 5 volume 69 being Workmen’s Compensation Regulations 2024 stipulates the compensation of workmen that under Medical expenses, surgical and hospital treatment, skilled nursing services and the supply of medicines shall not exceed M33400.

It additionally shows that, supply, maintenance repair and removal of non-articulated artificial limbs or any other artificial appliances shall not exceed M16700, adding that reasonable charges incurred in the transfer of a workman to and from a place where necessary treatment is available shall not exceed M5010.These Legal notices are not yet approved, they are tabled before the House as proposals to be discussed further in relevant committees.
