Maseru, April 10 – At least three out of four All Basotho Convention (ABC) Kobo-Tata members who were contesting positions at the party’s elective conference scheduled for this weekend have filed an urgent court application.

One of the trio Mr. Moahloli Mphaka told the Agency on Wednesday that they have approached the courts of law to twist the ABC’s leadership arm to allow them to be part of the elective conference scheduled at Leqele High School starting on Friday to Sunday this week.

Mr. Mphaka said they have seen the party circular on social media barring them to contest the elections for not meeting some of the party’s constitution sections. He described the ABC leadership as those who would like to drag the party backward instead of striving for peace and unity within the party members.

Mr. Mphaka said the same clauses used to disqualify them for contesting the elections were nullified during the same case when then Deputy party leader Professor Nqosa Mahao was not allowed to contest the elections.‘The ABC leadership wants to see the party grow like a donga while I would like it to grow like a poplar tree.Mr. Mphaka who worked as the Government Secretary during the ABC LED Government said according to him he is more than qualified to stand for the election where he said he has been recommended by more than half of the 80 constituencies.

He also stated that he has a life time membership of the party, saying there was no way he could be unqualified to contest the elections, unless there was a hidden agenda against him.

Mr. Mphaka said he approached the courts intervention together with two others Ms. Kefeletsoe Mojela as well as Mr. Katleho Molelle, excluding Mr. Lekhetho Mosito who has also been disqualified.

Mr. Mphaka said he had been recommended the contest the position of Deputy Leader where he would face the likes of Mr. Samonyane Ntsekele, Mr. Leshoboro Mohlajoa, Mr. Lehlohonolo Moramotse, Mr. Sekhonyana Mosenene and Mr. Makoro Makoro. When contacted for a comment, ABC Kobo-Tata Deputy Spokesperson Mr. Sekhonyana Mosenene confirmed that four candidates have been disqualified to stand for the elections, as they did not meet some of the party’s constitution’s sections.
