As an initiative to secure more evidence in the alledged rape case of a 10 year old girl with speech impairement, prosecution will on April, 23, visit the crime scene in Mpharane in Mohale’s hoek, to assist trigger the victim's memory, while getting a clear picture of what transpired.

 

This was ordered by Magistrate 'Marethabile Rantja after the victim who is also reported to have a mild mental disability identified the suspect, then demonstrated to the court how the incident happened, using a male doll.

 

The perpetrator in this case is a 40 year old Richard Mahloko, who had been released on M800.00 bail and a surety of M5000.00, on condition that he relocates to another village, following a plea made by the victim's mother, who stated that the latter would not feel safe to play with other children, if the suspect goes back to the village.

 

Among other conditions of Mahloko's bail, was that he attends remands and not to  interferes with witnesses, and he is charged with contravening Section 15 (1), read with 32 (V) and an alternative charge of contravening Section 8 (1), read with 32 a (VI) of Sexual Offences Act No:6 of 2003.

 

The case is before Magistrate 'Marethabile Rantja and Mats'episo Masithela for Prosecution, while the suspect is represented by Adv. Lebohang Mokoena.
