The Ministry of Small Businesses, Cooperatives and Marketing yesterday announced that, after several meetings with sheep and goats farmers in Lesotho, and wool and mohair farmers to discuss the Agriculture and Marketing Wool and Mohair Regulation, the regulation has been implemented, and that it is going to regulate the prizes of wool and mohair in the country.

Speaking in a meeting in Maseru yesterday, the Minister of Small Businesses Cooperatives and Marketing Honorable Chalane Phori, said the regulation allows farmers to trade with wool and mohair, only if they have Wool and Mohair Trade Licenses produced by his ministry, and also their businesses are registered in Lesotho.

He explained that the new regulation does not allow farmers to trade with wool and mohair outside the country, except if the wool and mohair is tested and sold in Lesotho.

He further said his ministry is aware that the production of eggs in the country has increased, and that his ministry is planning to stop the importation of eggs into the country, at different border gates.
