The Survivors of Lesotho Dams(SOLD) held a press conference in Maseru yesterday, to announce that it is greatly concerned and dismayed that the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority(LHDA), has still not fulfilled all of the country’s Ombudsman’s recommendations of 2003, 2006 and 2010.

During the press conference SOLD Coordinator Mr Lenka Thamae, said in 2006 the Ombudsman recommended full resettlement, of one of the survivors of Lesotho dams Mr Sekhebetlela Mojakhomo.

He further said the Ombudsman recommended LHDA to construct footbridges, over Blue River at Ha-Thetsane in Maseru, and over the Liphiring River at Ha-Makotoko where some survivors were resettled.

Mr Thamae went on to say  the Ombudsman recommended the construction of access roads at Ha-Ratau, Ha-Mosalla and Ha-Tsolo in Maseru, and the placement of street lights at Ha-Thetsane and Ha-Matala in Maseru, but up until now LHDA has not fulfilled all of these recommendations.

Furthermore SOLD announced that it has noted with appreciation, that international countries including Lesotho, are embarking on legalizing marijuana for medical and other purposes.

Mr Thamae said SOLD supports the legalization of marijuana in Lesotho.
