The Smallholder Agriculture Development Project (SADP), which supports farmers in all the districts of Lesotho except in Maseru, launched the new project aimed at supporting farmers in areas around Maseru.

The project was launched by SADP chairperson Mr Ret’selisitsoe Pheko, and the officer from the Department of Agriculture in Maseru Mr Leluma Bereng, at the Masianokeng farm in Maseru yesterday.

During the launch Mr Pheko explained that SADP will support small farmers with 30% in their projects, while they will be expected to contribute 20%.

He further indicated that SADP will support large scale farmers with 60% in the project, while they will be expected to contribute 40%.

On the other hand Mr Bereng explained that the amount of money SADP will give to the farmers, will not be a credit but a long term financial support.

The project is open for organizations and independent farmers, whose businesses are legally registered to submit their applications, starting from the 22nd June to the 20th July 2018.
