LESOTHO TEACHERS UNIONS RECEIVE PERMISSION TO START A LEGAL LABOUR STRIKE.
Lesotho teachers unions receive permission to start a legal labour strike.
07 September 2018 | 13:23

The Labour Court of Lesotho gave the three teachers unions of Lesotho Association of Teachers (LAT), Lesotho Teachers Trading Union (LTTU) and the Lesotho Schools Principals Association (LESPA), permission to start a legal labour strike in Maseru yesterday.

The three unions had previously requested the court to give them permission to start a labour strike, after the Directorate of Dispute Prevention and Resolution (DDPR), showed that the unions had no legal right to strike against the Ministry of Education and Training last week.

When addressing a crowed of teachers outside the court after a court verdict, the chairperson of Lesotho Association of Teachers(LAT) Mr Letsatsi Ntsibulane, indicated that the leaders of the three unions will meet to plan the teachers labour strike.

He said after this they will write down the number of days they will continue with their strike, and show the points they expect the government to respond to for them to stop the strike.
