Two women and a man appeared before the Leribe Magistrate Court on the 11th September 2018, for allegedly murdering a 35 years old man who is a husband to one of these women.

The suspects are awaiting trial in prison and they will appear before the court again on the 15th October 2018.

The suspects are the deceased’s wife Puseletso Sebotsa(35), ‘Matseko Mabote(32) of Tsikoane Leralleng and Rethabile Liholo(36) of Ha-Leshoele Leribe.

According to the report by the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) Spokesperson Superitendent Mpiti Mopeli, the deceased was found dead in the morning in the wasteland of Lisemeng One, after rumours indicated that his wife asked her friend ‘Matseko to help her kill him, because she wanted a compensation from one of the funeral insurances in Leribe.

Superitendent Mopeli said the woman asked the ‘Matseko to take her husband to a bar, where ‘Matseko poisoned him with break-fluid.

Reports further indicate that ‘Matseko took a walk with the deceased together with Rethabile, where Rethabile stabbed the deceased with a screw-Drive until he died.

Superitendent Mopeli pointed out that Rethabile was promised M10 000 when the insurance had paid the compensation, and the police found Rethabile with his weapon and the deceased’s cell phone.
