WOOL AND MOHAIR FARMERS PETITION AGAINST THE LESOTHO WOOL AND MOHAIR REGULATION.
Wool and Mohair farmers petition against the Lesotho Wool and Mohair Regulation.
25 September 2018 | 16:41

Members of Wool and Mohair Association of Lesotho handed their petition letter to the Government of Lesotho in Maseru yesterday, against the Wool and Mohair Regulation in Lesotho.

When handing over the petition, the representative of the chairperson of the association Mr Rantelane Shea, said members of their association are worried by the Wool and Mohair Regulation in Lesotho, and they want the government to withdraw it within seven days, so that wool and mohair farmers will work for their families without any hindrance.

Mr Shea also explained that the government has not yet responded to their petition letter, which they previous handed over to the Prime Minister Dr Motsoahae Thomas Thabane in August this year, and that the government did not obey the decision of the court which was favoring them.

The petition was accepted by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Honorable Mahala Molapo, supported by the Minister of Development Planning Honorable Tlohelang Aumane.

Honorable Molapo promised that the letter will be taken to the Prime Minister’s office.

The Lesotho Wool and Mohair Regulation No.23 of 2018, provides that Basotho should sell their wool and mohair in Lesotho, instead of in South Africa like it was before.
