The Ministry of Health commemorated the World Environmental Health Day with the street vendors in Maseru, by giving them gifts to uplift their spirits in their work environment.

The Deputy Minister of Health Mrs ‘Manthabiseng Phohleli stated that this action is a way of raising awareness to the street vendors, so that they  work at a safe and healthy environment in order to avoid harmful viruses and bacteria that are caused by a filthy environment.

She further said this year is commemorated annually by many different countries, and this year’s theme is Global Food Safety and Sustainability, saying in this day everybody should make it their responsibility to raise awareness on the importance of a healthy environment, and a proper diet as well as cleanliness.

World Environmental Health Day is celebrated every year on the 26th September, therefore this year marks the seventh year in the history of Lesotho where this day is commemorated.
