The Embassy of The Pe ople’s Republic of China to Lesotho marked sixty-nine years of the founding of The People’s Republic of China in Maseru yesterday.

At the event the Chinese political counselor and analyst Mr Song Chen Ching, said on the 1st October 1949 the People’s Republic of China was founded, and its people had gone through hundred years of struggle and finally a rebirth of the nation was established.

He said the year 2018 marks the 14th anniversary of China’s reform, and open up an endeavour that transformed not only China economically but also the whole world.Mr Ching also indicated that the year 2018 is a big and fruitful year for both China and Africa cooperation and also for China-Lesotho relations.He reminded people that in September this year heads of African states gathered together to renew China-Africa relations in Beijing China and that the forum shared a win-win cooperation between Africa and China.  

On the other hand the Lesotho Minister of Finance Honorable Moeketsi Majoro, pointed out that since the founding of the People’s Republic of China sixty-nine years ago, the nation has withstood the ebb and flow of the world, and it has made remarkable achievements to the surprise of the whole world.

He further said sine the re-establishment of formal diplomatic relations between Lesotho and China in 1994, the two countries have continued to enjoy warm and cordial bonds of friendship and cooperation, based on the core principles of mutual respect and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.

Honorable Majoro indicated that they are satisfied that during that period great strides have been made in consolidating friendship and beneficial cooperation at all levels between Lesotho and China.

In his remarks Honorable Majoro also pointed out that China has over the years proven not only to be a strategic partner to Lesotho but also a true friend.
