The Christian Association of Lesotho (CHAL) donated two ambulances to ‘Mamohau and Scott Hospitals in Morija Maseru yesterday.

When handing over the ambulances, the Head of Economics and Development at the Embassy of Japan in Cape Town South Africa His Excellency Sotaro Ozaki, explained that the ambulances were donated by the Society for Promotion of Japanese Diplomacy (SPJD,) in partnership with the people and Government of Japan through the Grasshoots Human Security Project (GDP Program).

He said the GDP is intended to assist non government organizations and local authorities in different countries, in addressing basic human needs such as social human development, health, education and basic infrastructure.

Speaking on behalf of Scott and ‘Mamohau hospitals at the ceremony, the Managing Director of ‘Mamohau Hospital Mrs ‘Mat’sepo Moletsi, said the ambulances are going to give value to the hospitals and also to the most disadvantaged population that they serve.

She indicated that the two hospitals have been operating with only one ambulance, to serve the daily demands of the hospitals with respect to the ambulance services, which include the local emergency services and referrals to different hospitals.
