The Government of China has announced its support to Lesotho with
technical skills to combat foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), with the aim
of strengthening the country’s capacity to access the Chinese market.
Chinese Ambassador to Lesotho Mr. Yang Xiaokun said this at the
commemoration of the 77th Anniversary of the Founding of the
People’s Republic of China in Maseru on Monday.
He mentioned that the support forms part of China’s efforts to
strengthen cooperation with Lesotho, particularly in agriculture and
livestock development, while helping create conditions for Lesotho to
increase its exports to China.
Ambassador Yang highlighted that strengthening Lesotho’s capacity to
control animal diseases was important in facilitating the country’s
participation in international markets.
He noted that the cooperation between the two countries continues to
expand across various sectors, with China supporting Lesotho’s
development through capacity building, technical assistance and other
forms of cooperation.
The 77th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China
was marked under the theme of strengthening friendship and
cooperation between China and its partners.
