Maseru– This year’s commemoration of Moshoeshoe’s day will be held at Thaba-Bosiu Cultural Village at Thaba-Bosiu on Sunday March 11th, 2018.

The commemoration will be marked with the laying of wreaths on the grave of MorenaMoshoeshoe 1on top of Thaba-Bosiu by His Majesty King Letsie III, the Right Honourable the Prime Minister, Dr. MotsoaheThabane, the Principal Chief of Makhoakhoa, Chief TumaneMatela, the Principal Chief of Batlokaoa, Chief QhethoHalikopaneSekonyela, and the Principal Chief of Bataung, Chief Moletsane II.

Following the laying of the wreaths, His Majesty King Letsie III will descend the mountain to Thaba-Bosiu Cultural Village, where he will inspect the parade formed of the Lesotho Defence Force.

This will be followed by a number of cultural performances such as mokhibo, ndlamo, monyanyako and mass choir. All these performances will be done by the community, pupils and students selected from schools around Thaba-Bosiu.

Prior the event of Sunday, there will be a memorial lecture held in honour of MorenaMoshoeshoe 1 at ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre on Friday March 09, 2018 starting at 1400hrs.The lecture will be centered around MorenaMoshoeshoe’s political style, using coalitions and alliances in nation building.

NB. Lesotho Defence Force will conduct rehearsals for this event on Thursday and Friday March 08-09 at Thaba-Bosiu starting at 0800HRS
