Water scarcity has become a significant issue in the district, forcing people to wake up at unusual hours to search for clean drinking water.

This shortage is affecting both urban and rural areas, with urban areas beginning to ration water to ensure all residents have access to clean water.

Ms. Tankiso Lisema from Hillside spoke about her struggle to find clean drinking water over the past three days. She said she had to rely on her neighbours for supply.

The situation has made daily tasks such as washing her toddler’s clothes extremely challenging as she needs to prioritize using the little water available for drinking purposes.

The water supply company in the district has announced that the shortage is due to prevailing weather conditions.

They noted that some areas have been severely affected, with clients left without water. The company has also announced a halt in water supply at certain times to collect enough water to supply surrounding areas.
