Mafeteng, June 03 — Two men from Malealea have briefly appeared before the Mafeteng Magistrate’s Court charged with murder.

The accused, Sebajoa Makhakhane and Lehlohonolo Mafa, aged between 26 and 31, are from Ha Tohlang and Ha Rantanyele respectively.

According to the charge sheet, the two allegedly acted together on May 31, 2026, in the killing of Motlatsi Mpakola of Malealea Ha Rantanyele.

It is alleged that the suspects assaulted the deceased with stones and sticks, inflicting injuries to the head which resulted in his death.

The court heard that on the day of the incident, the deceased had been drinking beer with the accused at Malealea Lodge. It is further alleged that later in the evening, the suspects followed him with the intention of assaulting him.

Both accused persons were informed of their legal rights, including the right to seek legal representation of their choice.
The suspects are charged under Section 40(1) read with Sections 26(1) and 109 of the Penal Code Act No. 6 of 2010.
The matter is before Magistrate Selebeleng Selebeleng, while Mr. Neo Ramakatsa is prosecuting.

The accused are expected to return to court for second remand on June 15, 2026. Police investigations are continuing.
