It has benn a shocking Sunday afternoon as Mapetla House business complex went ablaze.

The fire seemed to have started in one of the rooms on the second floor of the building.

Speaking in an interview on behalf of the company which manages the building, Profit Plan Managing Property Mr. Sam Mphaka said that the room in which the fire started is occupied by a Tailor / Dressmaker who said that on Friday the electricity meter seemed faulty when trying to upload the token of electricity units but later managed to.

However, Mr. Mphaka stated that though they have not received a report of assessment from the Fire department, it is most likely that the fire could have been started by an electric iron.

He was quick to point that there is not much damage to the building structure attributing this to the immediate response from the Fire department. He commended them for efficient service.

"Though the fire has not affected the structure, it is still a huge damage that we don't know how we are going to rectify and put the room back to use. It is a huge business inconvenience even for the tenants / occupants," he said.

Meanwhile the Agency could not speak to the Fire department personnel as they were still busy.
