Mohale's Hoek __ Multitudes of youth from various villages have on Wednesday gathered at the Ministry of Education's hall, for the United States US Embassy session.
The Embassy's Exchanges and Resource Coordinator, Mrs. 'Mabohlokoa Bookholane, stated that the objective of the session is to give an insight to the youth regarding various programs which are being offered by the U.S Embassy, and ways on how they can apply for grants into those programs.
She indicated that available programs and grants among others entail the Mandela Washington Fellowship which was established in 2010 by the former president Barack Obama, after realising that youth in African countries have less opportunities compared to their counterparts in the U.S.
Bookholane further articulated that other programs are Civic Leadership, Public Management, Entrepreneurship as well as Fulbright, which is a 2year Masters program, opened for students from 25 to 40 years.
On the other hand, one graduate who commended on condition of anonymity, stated that instead of becoming another statistic of the high rate of unemployment, the way out is to take a chance and apply for the Fulbright program.
Furthermore, another one who passed the LGSCE, 2023 and currently running a Tuckshop, applauded the initiative noting she will apply in the Mandela Fellowship for a Business and Entrepreneurship program.
