The Portfolio Committee on Natural Resources, Tourism and Land Cluster will re-visit four villages to check if Lesotho Highlands Development Authority has completed the projects meant to develop the lives of villagers.This was disclosed by the Chairperson of this committee Mr. Moeketsi Mots;oane when
presenting the report for consideration and adoption by the House regarding the petitions by Ha Makhalanyane, Ha Mokhathi, Ha Thafeng and Khorong Ha Nchela villages against LHDA .Mr. Mots;oane said the Committee, LHDA and Community of Ha Makhalanyane agreed that with over M8 Million, villagers who were affected by LHDA project and have not related to electricity be connected, saying it was also agreed that a road must be constructed at Ha Thafeng with over M1 Million, which is also in LHDA funds.
He added that it was agreed that a community hall must be built for Khorong Ha Ncheka villagers with the M608,491.50 however saying there are no funds for Ha Mokhathi villagers as some villagers together with LHDA employees committed fraud by withdrawing over M1 Million and allocated it to households which participated in this act and agreed to give each household M10,000.
He therefore told the House that it was agreed that the above-mentioned projects would be completed by October this year, saying he believes they are complete and that they will go back to these villages to make follow up.On the other hand, Maliepetsane Member of Parliament Mr. Lehlohonolo Hlapisi seconded the motion, saying the nation experts lives of Basotho to be developed.
