Lack of coordination amongst government ministries in Lesotho has been a longstanding challenge that undermines efficient service delivery, policy implementation and development outcomes.
This was said by the Minister of Health honourable Selibe Mochoboroane while stating that he is willing to be held accountable on ensuring that his ministry is well coordinated.
Speaking in an interview with the Agency said that some of the key issues contributing to lack of coordination within government ministries include fragmented policy implementation which normally led to duplication of efforts or conflicting approaches.
He indicated that weak communication channels which cause poor communication and information sharing among ministries hinder collaboration adding that decisions made by one ministry may not align with the priorities or actions of another.
Mochoborane however mentioned that some of the impacts of poor or lack of coordination include poor service delivery in implementing development programs, reducing trust in government institutions amongst citizens as well as missed opportunities for economic growth and regional cooperation.
He however mentioned that improving coordination among ministries is essential for addressing Lesotho's socioeconomic challenges and achieving sustainable development.
