Former South African crime intelligence boss Pat Mokushane has been arrested, and is expected to appear in court today on charges of corruption, fraud and money laundering.
Two independent sources have reported that Mokushane, Brigadier Leonora Bamuza-Phetlhe, and one other police officer in crime intelligence were arrested yesterday evening.
The trio will appear in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Pretoria today, and it is alleged that they falsified claims and received payoffs for fraudulent payments.
The National Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Khehla Sitole, yesterday told the Potfolio Committee on Police that Bamuza-Phetlhe, allegedly falsified security clearance certificates, and received a payment of R50 000 from the State Security Agency (SSA) in her bank account,
In August last year, the committee heard that Bamuza-Phetlhe issued an instruction, to print a security clearance certificate for the then-acting crime intelligence head Pat Mokushane.
